Description
In this seminar, you will acquire basic practical and theoretical knowledge in the quantitative analysis of humanities data. You will learn how research questions can be abstracted in such a way that testable hypotheses emerge from them and develop a deeper understanding of the operationalization of data, the formation of measurable indicators and the creation of suitable research designs.
Using real data sources - such as edition data, digital letter indexes or literary corpora - you will apply statistical methods in an exemplary manner and practise using tools such as Python, Jupyter notebooks, pandas and matplotlib. The aim is to work independently on a quantitative question and present the project results.
