Third-party funded projects (at SUB Göttingen)

A good part of my job at SUB involves applying for funding and implementing projects. Here is a list of ongoing and past projects that I have had the opportunity to work on.

In some projects I had the opportunity to share my knowledge on research data management, in others I designed technological infrastructures. Currently, I am working with my team on text and data mining in research publications.

Data Science

Digital Geochemical Data Infrastructure (DIGIS) (DFG)

The data ingestion into DIGIS relies heavily on the manual interpretation and categorization of papers for the GEOROC database. During this process, methodical descriptions and chemical and geographical information are extracted and mapped onto the GEOROC metadata format. Expert knowledge is needed to interpret the content of publications, categorize the data types according to the data systematics of the GEOROC database, and identify critical metadata. The main objective of this project is to support this process with an infrastructure prototype for information extraction. For this purpose, different approaches from the fields of NLP and language models are analysed and compared.

Research Infrastructures

NFDI4Biodiversity (DFG)

The national research data infrastructure offers services and tools for handling biodiversity and environmental data and organises practice-oriented data management training courses. I support the project in the context of science communication and in the future also with TDM.
